TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomer)
The most common onahole material. Soft, skin-like, and very affordable. Used in 80% of products under $50. TPE absorbs oil-based lubricants and degrades faster than silicone — water-based lube is essential. Should be cleaned within an hour of use, dried completely (24h+ air-dry inside), and dusted with starch before storage to prevent tackiness.
Pros: Realistic feel, low price, wide variety. Cons: Limited lifespan, needs careful maintenance.
Silicone (Platinum-Cure)
Premium material used in high-end products. Firmer than TPE but extremely durable. Can be boiled for sterilization. Resistant to oil-based lubes (though water-based is still recommended for fit). Lasts 3-5x longer than TPE. Magic Eyes and select premium brands use medical-grade silicone.
Pros: Long lifespan, easy cleaning, sterilizable. Cons: Higher price, firmer feel some users dislike.
Hybrid (Dual-Layer)
Combines a soft outer layer with a firmer inner core for unique sensation. Popular in mid-premium products from Toysheart, Magic Eyes, and KMP. The dual-layer design creates contrast between the soft entry and stimulating internal texture. Requires careful cleaning to avoid separating the layers.
Pros: Best-of-both feel, intermediate price. Cons: Slightly harder to clean, shorter than pure silicone.
Cleaning Tips for All Materials
- Wash with warm water and mild soap immediately after use
- Use a designated onahole cleaning powder or starch after drying
- Air dry inside with a dry stick (24-48 hours)
- Store in original case or breathable bag away from sunlight
- Never use oil-based or silicone-based lubes on TPE products
